My kiddies have been doing so much geometry this past week! I decided to give them a break and do some fun St. Patty's activities. They get a break and I get to decorate my room with some rainbows and pots of gold. We read the story Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato by Tomie dePaola. The children loved this story. Specifically when Jamie found the Leprechaun. I had my class make connections to the text by asking them, "What would you do if you found a Leprechaun with a pot of gold?" The end product came out really cute.
The children wrote a paragraph answering the writing prompt
from a reproducible I found that I used last year.
I also stumbled across this shamrock activity by Mrs. Zrihen at
A Teacher's Treasure while blog stalking. She created a shamrock craftivity using a KWL chart. My kiddies loved it! Before reading a story about St. Patricks Day we filled in what we know and what we want to know about St. Patrick's Day. I was surprised to see how much my children knew and how much I didn't know! I learn too when I teach :) . Anyway, we then completed the L-learn part of the chart and cut out the craftivity. She originally used four parts, KWHL, but I decided to modify it to fit the needs of my class. Our shamrocks came out amazing. SO MUCH FUN!
